Let Life Sing: Celebrating National
Donate Life Month

National Donate Life Month kicks off next month! This year, the theme is Let Life Sing, featuring beautiful birds who represent new beginnings and visits from loved ones who have passed away. Their songs offer a sense of peace and hope. 

At LifeShare Carolinas, we recognize April as a time to honor our organ, eye, and tissue donors as well as their families. It’s also a chance to celebrate the journey of transplant recipients and encourage others to sign up as donors themselves! If you’re looking for ways to show your own #DonateLife pride, we’ve got you covered!  

Show Your Donate Life Pride   

Go all out for Blue & Green Day

  • National Donate Life Blue & Green Day is Friday, April 11! Celebrate the lifesaving cause of organ, eye, and tissue donation by wearing blue and green. Encourage your friends and family to do the same! Share pictures on your social media and use #BlueGreenDay to join others around the country! 

Dress Up Your Pets in Blue and Green

  • You’re not the only one who gets to dress up! Consider buying your furry or non-furry friend (Reptiles welcome!) a blue and green collar or having them wear a bandana to celebrate Donate Life Month.  It’s a great conversation starter at the dog park. You can purchase a Donate Life pet bandana here.  

Bake Blue and Green Treats  

  • It’s not enough to don blue and green apparel! Bake some cupcakes and decorate them with green and blue icing. Make brownies and dump blue and green M&Ms into the batter. Share these treats with your neighbors, friends, and family while encouraging them to register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor!  

Thank Your Healthcare Heroes 

  • Are you a transplant recipient? Consider celebrating Donate Life month by thanking the team that made your journey possible. You can drop off a gift basket or bring some freshly baked goods. Even a thank you card can go a long way!

Share Your Donation Story

  • The stories behind donation are our greatest strength to encourage people to register to be donors! Share your story as a recipient or a donor family member on social media. Go to lifesharecarolinas.org/share-your-story/ if you’re interested in collaborating with us. 

Write a Letter to Your Donor Family or Recipient  

  • Donor families and transplant recipients can write letters to one another. For recipients, letters are a way to express their gratitude to the donor’s family. Receiving a letter helps them feel more connected to their donor. When donor families write letters, it’s a way for them to share who their loved one was. When a donor family gets a letter, they learn more about the recipient and remember what a beautiful legacy their loved one left behind.
