LifeShare Carolinas has been closely monitoring the situation as COVID-19 continues to rapidly spread across our country and the world. The safety of our donors, donor families, hospital partners, community, and our teammates is our priority and we have taken several steps to ensure safety.

Our clinical teams have limited their visits to hospitals and are only going on-site to perform vital donor case-related functions. To ensure the safety of everyone, including transplant recipients, LifeShare will test every organ donor for COVID-19.

The LifeShare Carolinas office closed on Monday, March 16, asking all staff to work from home. We will be communicating with our important partners as needed via phone and email. Important educations will be conducted using video conferencing technology. LifeShare has postponed or cancelled all community events indefinitely, including events to celebrate National Donate Life Month.

LifeShare’s leadership is meeting daily to evaluate all processes and restrictions and will make revisions and relay updates as needed. We will continue to focus on keeping everyone safe while we fulfill our mission of giving hope, life, and healing through organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Many organ transplant recipients have questions regarding this disease and how to protect themselves. We recommend visiting the American Society of Transplantation’s Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) FAQ page, which has important information and is being updated regularly.
